DHE celebrates 20 years in the mechanical trade with 100% ESOP Announcement

DHE, a leading commercial and industrial plumbing and mechanical contractor, is proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary of serving the West Michigan community. Founded in 2005 by the Heyboer family, DHE has built a reputation for delivering innovative solutions, quality craftsmanship and a team-based approach to commercial and industrial construction projects across the region.

From the beginning, DHE has been dedicated to creating a better construction experience by fostering strong partnerships with contractors, owners and employees alike. Now, two decades later, the company is marking this milestone with continued growth, expanded leadership and a renewed commitment to building a brighter future.

In 2023, DHE began its transition to employee ownership, further cementing its people-first values. As of June 1, 2025, the company proudly became 100% employee owned, ensuring every team member has a direct stake in the company’s success. This historic step not only honors DHE’s legacy of trust and investment but also secures its future as a company built by—and for—its people.

DHE also proudly supports the future of the skilled trades workforce in West Michigan. Each year, the company awards 15 scholarships of $500 to graduating high school students pursuing careers in the skilled trades. The initiative reflects DHE’s belief in hands-on careers and its commitment to growing the next generation of trade professionals.
